‘Youth Speaks Out'  Meeting

Meetings of young people were held on the 8, 9th and 10th November 2007. It was organized by Jamie Marshall.

Plan of Meeting

1.  Introduction — Brief summary as to why they were invited.
2.  Card Quiz
3.  Open Ideas Discussion
4.  Camera Handouts
5.  Possible Working Group?

Ideas and issues were discussed which were important to young People. Among them were:

    Kids Outings... = Going to local youth events, trips etc.
    Suggestion Boxes = Placed around the village
    Promoting good teens/achievements
    Road Humps to stop speeding = Bury Road, High Road
    Parking Issues in Wheelwright Close
    Children Playing Speed Sign = Vicarage Close
    Varying Bus Fares??
    More sports = Rugby Posts, Club, Tournaments etc.
    Stop using countryside to expand = Housing
    Grass not being cut often enough
    More public bins
    Lack of Transport
    Another playing area = Opposite side of village
    Youth Club = Indoor sports (Tennis, Badminton etc.)


List of 10 names of young people was compiled who are interested in starting a small group of young people to help put forward ideas/decisions as to how Shillington can be improved.
